It is said that baseball is so important to Jews that the Torah starts off with “In the Big Inning…” Well, maybe not, but softball is a big deal here at Congregation Agudat Achim. This past weekend at the annual Tournament of the Temples, we won an exciting playoff game to advance to the championship game. In that final game we lost by one run to an outstanding team from Temple Beth Emeth. This was a hard fought, back-and-forth game where Beth Emeth scored their winning run on a play where one of our many stars, Josh Yablon, injured his knee attempting to catch a fly ball.
Thanks to our managers, Lawrence Schantz and Steve Schmidt for their leadership, and also the Men’s Club and Women’s Network for sponsoring our team. This team always remained true to the concept that how you play is much more important then winning or losing. As the old Brooklyn Dodgers used to say – “Wait ‘til next year!”
