After four days the most disastrous fire in Israel's history has finally been defeated. The fire in the Carmel region caused 41 deaths, destroyed 12,500 acres of forest, and severely damaged 250 homes. The Religious School is taking the lead in helping JNF raise funds to reforest Mt. Carmel. The High School ceramics classes with Jackie Rowen are making Mezuzahs that they are selling for $10.00. All proceeds from the sales will go towards buying trees from JNF. Mezuzahs can be purchased on Sundays when school is in session or you can pick one up from the school office. Every student will be coming home with a form to purchase trees in the name of a loved one and if you don't have a child in the school you pick one of those up in the office as well.
We have also partnered with JNF and created our own online webpage for donations too. We hope to sell 200 trees which would amount to $3,600.00. To access our donations page directly please use this link: http://support.jnf.org/goto/CAAtrees
